Maplewood Richmond Heights School District is pleased to introduce Matt Bauersachs and Amber Compton as the new house parents for Joe’s Place. Matt and Amber will fill the shoes previously worn by Chris and Lainey Ruth, who served as house parents for one year.

Joe’s Place is a residence that offers homeless teenage boys in the Maplewood Richmond Heights School District a caring home environment that supports them for high school graduation, self-sufficiency, and positive transitions into their adult lives. Joe’s Place house parents facilitate a safe and stable environment for the residents by overseeing the day-to-day workings of the house and ensuring the care of its residents’ needs.

Matt Bauersachs, 28, holds a bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. He will be attending Saint Louis University in the fall to pursue his master’s in Social Work. For the past two years, Matt has worked at Preferred Family Healthcare where he operates as a Behavioral Health Technician (BHT). Matt, who is a Richmond, Virginia native, has lived in St. Louis for the past seven years.

Amber Compton, 24, also attended Southern Illinois University Edwardsville where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Special Education in May of 2019. She has recently been hired by the Special School District where she will serve as a Resource Teacher for the Pattonville School District this fall. Amber is a St. Louis native and is a graduate of Hancock High School.
